Would you be interested in helping to prepare for, plan and run future Be Prepared Events?
We are on the look out for new members of the team. Whether its helping out on the day itself, helping with site setup, or helping to develop future events, we are keen to hear from you!
What would I be doing?
There are a variety of roles available. We need volunteers on the day to help run bases, marshal traffic, keep scores, organise welfare, etc. We also need volunteers on the setup day (Friday) to get the site set up, and on the Sunday afternoon/evening to pack away. If enough volunteers are available we aim to get some of the site set up on the Thursday.
How can volunteering benefit me?
Not only is it great fun volunteering for a Be Prepared event, but its also an opportunity to learn new skills, make new friends/contacts, and also boost your CV. You will have the opportunity to try out some of the activities yourself, and facilitating an activity may boost your confidence!
During the evenings (after set up and the first day) we run a social at the event site, with a BBQ. Its a great chance to unwind and relax before the main event. We also typically run a debrief session in a pub a while after the event.
What do I need?
If you are an existing member of The Scout Association or Girlguiding all you need to do is get in touch, as we can accept CRB/DBS checks from those two organisations. If you do not have a crb check from one of those organisations don’t worry, we can arrange one for you if necessary.
If you are camping you will also need to bring your own sleeping bag and roll mat – you are welcome to bring a tent or to crash on the floor in the main hall!
What will you provide?
The event team will provide all your meals while you are volunteering, from Friday Lunch through to Sunday Lunch… along with unlimited tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes.
If you would like to drink something a little stronger in the evenings, after the Scouts and Guides have left site, then please feel free to bring your own booze!
We will also provide on site camping space, or floor space in the main hall (sleeping tents can be left in the designated area of the field during the day but beds in the hall will need to be packed away by 8am)
We will also provide hi-vis / event t-shirts / etc as appropriate and full training.
